Nottingham has an unusual concentration of sandstone and gypsum geology beneath it, and it affects concrete in ways that matter for resin flooring. The city's subsoil is more reactive and moisture-mobile than the heavy clay found in most of the Midlands, and sandstone bedrock can allow ground moisture to move upward through a slab more readily — particularly in older properties across Sneinton, Sherwood, Mapperley and the Nottingham Park Estate.
