Residential Full Flake System

Residential Full Flake Garage Floor

A residential garage transformed from bare, dusty concrete into a seamless, fully broadcast flake epoxy floor — installed, finished and photographed on site by the Rhino Coating team.

The Project

Bare concrete, brought up to a finished standard

This domestic garage arrived with the floor most UK garages have — a bare, unsealed concrete slab carrying years of dust, surface dusting and the usual hairline cracking. Left as-is, a slab like this will keep shedding dust, stain readily and never quite come clean.

The brief was straightforward: a hard-wearing, seamless floor that could take daily vehicle use, clean up easily and lift the whole space visually. A full flake epoxy system was specified — a broadcast decorative flake layer over a solid epoxy base, sealed under a clear protective topcoat.

The result is a completely seamless surface with no joints or grout lines to trap dirt, a light-reflective speckled finish that hides everyday marks, and a floor engineered for a residential garage environment.

Preparation & Installation

The floor is only as good as what goes beneath it

Every Rhino Coating installation follows the same disciplined sequence. Skipping or rushing any stage is what causes resin floors to blister, peel or delaminate — so preparation is where the majority of the work happens.

  1. 01

    Surface Inspection & Testing

The slab is inspected for laitance, contamination, cracking and moisture. Any defects that would compromise adhesion are identified before a single drop of resin is mixed.

  2. 02

    Diamond Grinding

The surface is mechanically diamond ground to open the concrete's pores and create the correct mechanical key. This is the single most important step for a permanent bond.

  3. 03

    Crack & Defect Repair

Cracks and hollow areas are opened out and filled with a structural repair resin so the finished system is continuous rather than bridging over a fault.

  4. 04

    Base Coat & Flake Broadcast

A solid epoxy base coat is applied and decorative flake is broadcast to full refusal, then left to cure before the excess is swept away.

  5. 05

    Clear Topcoat & Handover

A clear protective topcoat seals the flake layer, delivering the finished sheen and everyday wear resistance. The floor is then left to cure fully before handover.
